A Letter From Our President
Hello,
My name is McKinley and I am currently serving as the Alpha Zeta chapter’s president. I was so nervous coming to college and knowing almost no one. I’ll be honest I never thought I would join a sorority, I went through Rush just to get out of my comfort zone and I didn’t know the first thing about sororities. All the philanthropy and sisterhood stuff was so new to me, the only reference I had was from movies, but I quickly realized what a sorority truly was through the prosses and on top of that I quickly found out who I was as well. During rush there was a lot of talk about the sororities and I sadly was lost in the idea of fitting in, so much so that I ended up dropping out of the recruitment prosses all together. It took me a while to realize who I wanted to be and let myself express it without caring so much about others options. I quickly found out I didn’t want to “fit in“, I wanted the freedom to be myself and after the COB dinner I knew I could in KBG. I suddenly knew people in my classes and had a reason to explore and spend more time on campus. I have an amazing organization of strong and loyal women to support me through life and I can happily say I will always do the same for them. I have realized a lot about myself and my goals while being in KBG and I have made some amazing friends that I probably would have never met if I wasn’t in the sorority. I wont lie to you and say it’s all butterflies and rainbows, just like everything in life you get a few curve balls here and there, but you learn to grow and overcome just like you would in the real world. I have learned so much from my sisters and I continue to be blessed with new and exiting advancers each day. I’m so excited to serve a chapter that has served me so well and strive with my sisters everyday to make it a more welcoming and safe space for our current and future sisters!
LIKBG,
McKinley Harris
